The double and twin bedrooms with light coloured wood, soft pale decor and creamy cappuccino linen create the perfect bedtime retreat. An added bonus to this property is the bathroom subtly equipped for guests with mobility problems. In contrast the cottage garden is typically English, secluded, quiet and a little haven of tranquillity for birds and humans alike.

Set back privately within secluded mature gardens lies this charming and peaceful holiday cottage. An immaculately presented detached barn conversion with open plan living across a single level, complete with a crisp hotel finish to also include family entertainment; a selection of reads, dvds and activities for whatever the weather!

Bird lovers and nature enthusiasts will fall in love, many guests delight in the beautiful cottage gardens with the mature fruit trees and exotic flowers that attract the wildlife and if you can bear to be away from the tranquil surroundings why not walk down the road for a visit of Leybourne lakes and natural park, perhaps you'll be tempted by the kayaking or scuba diving to name just a few of the activities in the local area.

The barn is perfectly positioned to explore the delights across Kent yet also offers incredible access to main routes be it by rail, bus or by car to London and the ports, making this an ideal bolt hole for a busy weekend visit or enjoyable vacation anytime of the year.

Local Information about Snodland, Kent

From downland to marshes and a rich historical centre, all in the space of one parish, the small town of Snodland (once the largest village in England) and Sandhole Barn have a lot to offer locally.

Transformed from former chalk pits, Leybourne Lakes Country Park is a wonderful location for wildlife and birdwatching, whilst also allowing watersports enthusiasts the opportunity to windsurf, canoe and kayaking. Around the lakes are a series of woods for gentle walks and cycling. Another great sport for walkers and picnickers is Blue Bell Hill Picnic site. Within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offering magnificent panoramic views over the Medway Valley, and with the North Downs Way passing along the northern edge of the site the are plenty of opportunities to explore. For golfers, just "a pitch and a putt" away is Oast Park Golf Centre, boasting a range of golfing facilities including a full nine hole course and a driving range complete with twenty bays that can be used at night. West Malling is a nearby pretty village offering a fabulous choice of restaurants and pubs with a scenic backdrop and also offering an extended golf course as one of its many charms.

Should you wish to venture out and about, the "world" is your oyster with excellent road and train links. Why not leave the car behind and take the train? London is accessed from Snodland's own train station and nearby Ebbsfleet provides international rail links to Brussels, Paris or Lille.

Why not take a historical visit to Rochester Castle, guarding the River Medway, this imposing fortress has a complex history of destruction and rebuilding. The great keep of Rochester Castle towers over the River Medway, dominating the skyline together with its inseparable twin, the magnificent cathedral.

Rochester Cathedral is the second oldest in England. As you wander around this beautiful and spiritual cathedral you will see a fine collection of medieval wall paintings and the first genuine fresco to be painted in an English cathedral for nearly 800 years.

Walk the length of the walls and grounds taking in the river and contrasting urban feel of the town centre and river traffic flowing by.

You can explore more about Charles Dickens at the Guildhall Museum's Dickens Discovery Rooms in Rochester and at Dickens World in Chatham Maritime.

Nelson's flagship HMS Victory was built at Royal Dockyard and is now a major visitor attraction The Historic Dockyard in Chatham.

Fancy something different? Diggerland is an adventure park based on diggers and small dumpers, located only 5 miles away where children are given the chance to ride on and even drive real construction site diggers and dumpers!

If walking is more your thing, The Saxon Shore Way stretches from Gravesend to Hastings, some 160 miles from start to finish. 26 miles of the route pass through Medway and have been divided into seven sections. Six of the sections are five miles or less in length. Each section can provide an enjoyable day out and offers the walker something different, from the desolate marshland between Cliffe and High Halstow, through the busy streets of Rochester and Chatham to the peaceful riverside of lower Gillingham and Rainham.
