Local Information about Canterbury, Kent

Canterbury was settled as early as Saxon times who favoured it because of its strategic position in a valley with two rivers. Canterbury was also home to Geoffrey Chaucer's famous Canterbury Tales which are well depicted in a museum entirely dedicated to them in the city centre.

In the immediate area, Roper road is within a 5 minute walk to the majestic Westgate towers that guarded the west entrance to the city; nearby to a choice of restaurants, bars, cafes, bakery, shops and supermarket, in fact there is absolutely no need to get in the car at all! The train station is directly opposite with the fast train connecting to London within 55 minutes. Major bus routes are also accessible and lead other exciting locations including the seaside and harbours, one of our favourites being Whitstable.

Canterbury West and East Station are just a few minutes walk from the apartment with high speed links to London (56 minutes to London St Pancras).

Ashford International is just 20 minutes train ride away with its International Eurostar connections to Paris and Brussels (2hrs and 15 mins).

Easy access along the motorway to Folkestone for the Eurotunnel and Dover for the Ferry with connections to Calais

The apartment has provided us with a fantastic base for exploring Kent. Well equipped and ultra clean. It has been a comfortable stay here in Canterbury, and so convenient to have a car parking space. Some of the places we've really enjoyed have been Dover Castle, Walmer Castle Deal. Sissinghurst was a lovely stop on route to Tunbridge Wells. I have to mention a great meal at Deeson's and the Ancient Raj. Our last night is at M.C at The Abode so I hope it lives up to our great meal at Deeson's. Thanks again, it's been great. Family from Cheshire

We've had a great week in this brilliantly located flat - after narrowly avoiding destroying the top box on the car in the underground car park when we arrived !!! the flat has had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thanks very much. We have been staying here with a 4 year old and a 10 month old and have been spoilt for choice for things to do. We definately recommend the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. The Battle of Britain Memorial, Dover Castle ( especially the underground tunnels experience ). Samphire Hoe, Lower Leas Coastal park, Wingham Wildlife park, ( feed the meerkats, walk with flamingoes ). The Shell grotto in Margate, I could go on and on. Hopefully we'll be back soon to do some more sight seeing. A family from Warrington.
